Hopefully all of you know the trivia about how Rotary got it's name: the meeting location used to rotate between different locations. We're going to be doing that through the end of the year - that's really just 3 more meetings - including a 5th Tuesday Social and our annual Holiday Party.

This week, we'll be at the Landlocked Gallery downtown. Please bring your own beverage of choice, plus somethings to nosh on that can be shared. Also, reach out to someone who you haven't seen at a meeting recently and have them join you too.

Hopefully, you remembered to participate in the poll to find the date for our last meeting of the year which will be our Holiday party and club elections for the upcoming year. Use the link below if you haven't voted yet.

Gary and I leave this week to head to Tucson where Gary will participate in the Ride to End Polio - subscribe to his Facebook page and you'll be able to see live updates of the ride on the 20th. But we timed the trip so I won't miss my club meetings.

Rotating Meeting Locations

We are very lucky to have a great relationship with Vincenzo's. They have asked us about temporarily moving from the party room to allow them to book larger groups into the restaurant for the holidays. So we will bring back the tradition of rotating meeting locations for our meetings through the end of 2021. All meetings will still start at 5:30 PM. The event calendar has been updated so you can easily add the calendar event to your own personal calendar, but here's the schedule:

November 16: Landlock Gallery, 4011 Farnam St - BYOB & food to share

November 30: 5th Tuesday Social: Gather, 1108 Howard St

December 7?: Holiday party at Darcy's house. Date to be determined soon.

December 21: No meeting for the holiday

January 4: Back at Vincenzo's

Ride to End Polio 2021

"I think I want to do that" are very powerful words. Gary Bren said those things to his wife and began a journey 2 years ago that will culminate in riding a bicycle over 100 miles in Tucson Arizona and raising money for polio eradication. The Ride to End Polio is one of the official non-profits in the El Tour de Tucson, and has raised more than $60 million to aid in Rotary's fight to end polio. This year's ride will be Saturday, November 20th.

Gary will be live-streaming his ride on Facebook, and you can donate using his link to the Raise for Rotary web page.

Gary was our speaker at our November 2 meeting. At our meeting, a majority of club members voted to support Gary and his ride with a $1000 donation from our club service fund.

Holiday Party 2021

An email was sent out to finalize the date for the holiday party and our last meeting of 2021. The location will be at Darcy's house. Watch this spot for an updated date.

Weekly Program - Nov 16 2021

Bring your own beverage and nosh to share - and call a Rotarian you haven't seen in a while to have them join you too!

We'll have the gallery to ourselves since they are normally closed on Tuesdays. Molly Hobson gave a great presentation about the gallery recently and now we'll have a chance to see it in person.

5th Tuesday Social - Nov 30 2021

Location: Gather, 1108 Howard St

Gather is Omaha's first and only vertical farm: we'll have a tour of the farm along with drinks and appetizers. Great opportunity to bring a prospective member. Sign up online here.

Volunteer at Siena Francis House

UPDATED! We cancelled our meeting on October 19th to serve meals at the Siena Francis House from 4:15 PM to 6:15 PM. We had 4 club members and two spouses join us in serving meals. That night we had beautiful weather and that must have brought everyone out: we served over 250 meals during that time. (Normally they serve about 150 to 180.) It was a very rewarding time - pictures are up on Facebook now.
